HARARE: #Tajamuka Clashes With Riot Police
Tajamuka social movement in Harare on Friday used catapults to fight back at the riot police officers who were firing tear gas to disperse their gathering.
The overzealous police details, blocked the protesters from entering Parliament building where they wanted to hand over a petition to the Clerk of parliament.
The peaceful protesters who were chanting anti-President Robert Mugabe songs said that they wanted the parliament to impeach the veteran leader.
Their intentions were however aborted after the police rounded them up and started firing tear gas.
Angered by the brutal treatment, the protesters used catapults to throw stones at the police before the latter back-tracked.
This resulted in the brief closure of Nelson Mandela Street between Second Street and Fourth Street.
